To start the course, we have been using (and re-using) some key words:
- Media Ideologies
As we have discussed, these words don’t exist in a vacuum – with them we can help (re)see the world around us, and better understand choices that people make. And, we can leverage them to make more sophisticated choices ourselves.
For this project, you will work in partners and choose 2-3 of these words. With them, you will create an argument (construct a thesis!) and find an example (or a combination of a few) of your thesis at work in the world.
Your partner and you will have 3min (exactly!) to make your argument.
Think broadly and deeply – how will we understand your point? What will we listen to, view, or hold? How will you use your three minutes?
Prepare wisely and thoughtfully – we’re looking for you to teach us something, to (re)see the world through the point that you’re making.
Ask yourself: Why does this matter?
Questions I will ask myself (and that your classmates will ask about you):
- how are you constructing a coherent argument? in what ways do the parts support the whole?
- how are you thoughtfully incorporating readings & conversations from the first three weeks of class?
- in what ways does the how of the presentation make sense with the what of the presentation?
